Hello again!

I have been gone so long, I almost forgot my way back. I was able to scrape through the sludge, and re-appear with just a few minor scars, to find my way back to you all!

I apologize for my departure. I had no time for goodbyes. But I'm back and looking anew.

These past long months, have been trying, and exhausting, but I am seeing light again, and ready for new beginnings.

I am working on cleaning up my act: readying my new creative space, and re-inventing the face of Sweet Addie. I'll be posting soon with updates on my progress, and a date for my new shop reveal.

I hope you'll decide to journey with me again!

Sunday was a wonderfully relaxing day! We went to a little lake called Sugar Pine. The kids had lots of fun playing in the water, feeding geese, and spraying mommy and daddy with squirt guns! It was so nice just to soak up the sun and feel the cool water on my toes!

Red Door

Hello everyone! Hope you all had wonderful mothers day's! Mine was very relaxing, despite my daughter being sick with the stomach flu. She slept most of the day, and my husband entertained the boys by taking them on an adventure at his work (he manages a golf course, and the boys love riding around in daddy's golf cart!) !

I spent a few hours at the antique fair which is the second Sunday of every month in mid-town Sacramento. For some reason I really wasn't in a hunting mood, very strange for me since I usually live for the fair. I did find some fun things though, a few old rhinestone jewelry pieces, some pretty vintage tins, and two gorgeous old feather down ticking pillows for $10 each!

Our house has been busy getting things cleaned, painted and packed up for the June 1st date of putting our house officially up for sale. The picture at the top is my newly painted red front door. I can't not say this enough, "I hate packing!!" I hate moving for that matter! We have done so several times in the past years, and it doesn't get any easier the more you do it. My husband says it's cause I have too much junk, and I think he may be right! I don't like to part with anything I think my be useful to me someday, but I'm also not very organized. This can be a problem when your house is just too small!

Why are we moving then you ask? We have been mulling over the idea for about a year now, well basically since the real estate market decided to take a dump and take all our investment with it! Now usually people are very hush, hush about their money/finances, but I'm telling you this because I know we are not the only ones affected by the current state of our economy. When we purchased out home in 2005 we paid $400,000, mind you this is a 1400 sq ft , 3 bedroom home. Today our house is worth $169,900! talk about devastating! Everything we put down on our house is gone. Everything we put into the house is gone. We never intended this to be our "forever" home, since our goal has always been to someday return to Santa Cruz, where my husband is from. Our chance to move to Santa Cruz may come as soon as 2 years from now, and there is no way our house is going to jump back up to $400,000. A short sale is really the only option, since we owe more than the house is worth. Do we just stay for now, and short sale later, delaying the inevitable, or do we get this thing over with, and start to repair what has been broken now rather than later? We've cried, we've gotten angry, we've moped and been depressed, but finally realized some things are just out of your hands. We are ready to be done with this, get on with our lives and start the journey of recovery. It is deflating, and feels like we are starting all over again, when we worked so hard to become homeowners, but we are focusing on the fact that we are healthy, financially stable, and will always have a roof over our heads whether it's ours or borrowed. That's what's most important after all.

Now, off to pack up some more!

Latest Purchase

Look what I just purchased from one of my favorite stores! I went looking for a cute something to hang on my newly painted front door (I'll tell you more about that later), but instead found this very Anthro looking quilt and shams. Did I need them, well, no, but I fell in love, and for $50 for the both the shams and quilt, I couldn't pass it up! The colors are not my usual palate, but It seems like my palate is ever changing, and for some reason this quilt just called to me!

My bedroom is pretty much devoid of color. I never painted the walls, so they are builder white and boring. We are putting the house on the market June 1st, so the walls will remain white. The painting over the bed belonged to my Husbands Grandmother. She recently passed away, and I feel privileged to be the new owners of the painting. I believe one of her close friends painted it for her. The colors were a perfect match to the new quilt.

The pillow with the "K" on it actually used to be in my office (before baby girl took over the room). I thought it went well with the quilt, although it might not be nice to have a pillow with just my initial on it, since my hubby shares the bed too! I'll have to find something else to take it's spot!

The bed, well actually the entire bedroom set, was a wedding gift from my parents. It really is more my moms style, very traditional, but It's pretty, and was free! Can't beat that! I love my mommy!

Nutella Love

Today my boys and I made some delicious Nutella Banana Muffins (we call them cupcakes at my house because cupcakes are much more likely to get eaten by the kids than muffins are!). We are big fans of Nutella here, but since beginning my quest to shed pounds (which, I'm happy to announce, I am down 2 pant sizes! Whoot! Whoot!) I haven't been breakin' open the jar as much. I have had a huge Costco sized jar in my cabinet for 2 months, so I thought it was time for a little treat!

My kids love to help me bake, but it's very hard to do it in an organized and neat manner with all three. Usually my 2 year old has her hand in everything generally making an obscene mess, so I reserved some special time just for my boys while the baby took her nap. We had lots of fun, and the mess was kept to a minimum!

If you love Nutella, you must make this recipe! It really is to die for! I took the liberty of spreading a thin layer of the spread on top like frosting, and added a small sprinkling of powdered sugar! Yum!

**UPDATE**

You'll be happy to know the huge pile of Laundry is gone! It's now possible to walk through the hallway without fear of a broken ankle! Gotta love that!

Shameful

I have a dirty secret (and I do mean dirty!). I have been very diligently avoiding any type of housework this week. We are planning on putting our house on the market next Friday and my to do list is a mile long. I don't work well under deadlines. I procrastinate until I can procrastinate no longer. It's my worst trait, I admit. So while I have been making jewelry, working out, going to coffee, reading and playing with the kiddos, my laundry pile has grown to epic proportions! I kid you not! I am showing you this picture in the hope that it may publicly shame me into getting my act together! So please, if you have a weak stomach, look away!

I think it may take me all weekend to get it all done! That must be my penance for my sloven ways! You know what Ill be doing this weekend, hope yours is much more enjoyable!

Teaching an old dog new tricks

I've been very inspired lately to learn and create some new pieces. I have so many ideas floating around in my head, and yet I struggle to find the time I need to work those ideas out. Soldering has been something I have wanted to learn for some time now, but just never got around to hatching it out. I thought it might be best to learn soldering as sort of a building block to learning more complex metal smith techniques, which is my end goal. I finally bought the supplies, and referred to the tutorials and books I've had had for awhile, and sat down to do it. It's addicting! I want to solder everything in sight! I've made several basic pendants, which as you know are made by everyone and their mother, but it's new to me, and I'm enjoying the possibilities soldering allows.

I picked up a few new art books recently thank to my 50% off coupon from JoAnns. I never realized what a great selection of art books they carried. I now have a list, and every time I get a coupon I'll be picking up a new book!

One of the books I got features some amazing jewelry by some very talented ladies. My work tends to be, pretty, romantic, and rather girly, but there are some amazing wire techiniques in this book that I'm really excited to learn! Many of the projects are made using a more rustic approach to wire wrapping. I am usually a very precise and neat wire wrapper, so this messy technique is a little foreign to me, but I'm loving the freedom of it! It's organic and very liberating!

My latest purchase was a tiny little sewing machine for crafting. I really, really want to learn to sew beautiful things like this gal, and this gal, and this one too, but for now I'll be content to sew small things like paper and felt. So much to learn, so little time!

Ohh I also am dying to make a few projects from this gorgeous book! For now I'll just drool over the pages!

Fabulous Friday- Jewlery Display

I stumbled upon the blog Simply Seleta today and thought I'd join in her Fab Friday. If you'd like to participate you can see all the rules here, but basically you just have to blog about something fabulous from your day!

Today I was feeling crafty and have been itching to make some display pieces to hold my jewelry that I sell at a few local shops. So I used my morning to be productive and made two of these cute pin boards to hang my jewelry on!

I already had the frames but they were gold and not very attractive, so I spray painted them aqua and antiqued them a bit. next I wrapped the peg board (what used to be in the frame) with batting and burlap. I screwed the boards back in place and added a little decorative trim to finish the pieces off. I just used pearl tipped straight pins to hang the jewelry, and viola! I have two new pretty pieces to display my wares!

I think these definitely qualify as Fabulous!

Zumba

I've told you guys a little bit about my journey towards weight loss and a healthier me, but I haven't given much of the details about what routine consists of. I discovered Zumba about 4 months ago, and have become completely hooked on the Latin infused dance workout! I started dancing at about age 4, and continued throughout high school. I even danced and cheered competitively in high school. I love to move and dance to a good beat, but since having children and gaining weight I'd lost my rhythm! When I stumbled upon Zumba I was so excited to try a form of exercise that actually seemed fun! I own a treadmill, but I'd really rather do laundry than step on that thing! It is sooooo boring! I can't stop looking at the clock when I'm on it!
Now with Zumba, I am going 4 times a week, and the workout is amazing! I'm sweating bullets when it's over, yet the times seems to fly by because it is just so much fun! I'm also doing a toning and weight training class 2 times a week. It's brutal, but effective! My legs are actually burning right now from the million lunges I did in Monday's class!

So it may sound like I'm a spokesperson for Zumba, but really I just wanted to share with you this fun and very effective workout with you guys, because it has truly been the main force in my quest to shape up! There are Zumba class all over the country, so find one near you and try it out! I promise you'll be hooked!

Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthhhday to meeeee, happy Birthday to me!

If you'd hadn't guessed already today is my birthday! My 31st to be exact. Can't say I am very excited to have aged another year, but I did have a wonderful day! My hubby surprised me with flowers in the morning and a very "heartfelt" card! he usually gets me funny cards so I was a little surprised to get such a mushy card from him until I saw his little note under the mushy quote! Enough said!

That's how it goes from here on out. Once you turn 30, your birthday celebrations are more and more subdued, and people have wished you so many happy birthdays, that they can't think of any more creative ways to tell you how special you are! They just look for it already written in a card! I confess, I did it to him too on his birthday last week! Yes, his birthday was last week, he's just a mere 6 days older than me!

The kids made me some cute cards, daddy took care of dinner and bought us all cupcakes too. He thought he was hilarious putting all 31 candles on top of my cupcake!

When they were all lit my four year old exclaimed, " the fire department is going to come!". Ha! he also asked if I was going to have a pinata! You do know a Pinata is the true sign of an awesome birthday party, right? Sorry no pinata!

Since we went out to dinner for the hubby's b-day last week (and you practically need to take out a second on your home to pay for dinner and a babysitter these days!) I opted to keep it casual today. I'd much rather be in bed early with a new movie anyways!

New Blog, New Me!

Hey y'all! I've been busy, busy, busy lately! All three of the kiddos contracted some lovely virus and were sick for the whole past week. Yuck times 3! I've also been very busy making some new pieces (I'll have pics up sometime this week), and learning some new techniques. I really want to add a little something, something to my work, so I've been hitting the books, tutorials, and everything else I can get my hands on! I also have a new look for my blog! Did you notice? Isn't it pretty?! The Lovely Jaime, did a fabulous job mixing the soft color pallet I love, with a vintage feel. Jaime is the most adorable, and sweet person! She worked so hard to get the look I wanted, and she definitely deserves props for dealing with picky me! All of her work is amazing, so check out her site if you are looking for some design work of your own! Oh and she is currently having a 50% off sale on all her pre-made designs!! Whooot!!

Mmmm! This is what I treated myself to for lunch today. My all time favorite sandwich! Looks and tastes fancy, but is actually a cinch to make. Rustic Baguette, pesto mayo (I just combine a little store bought pesto with Mayo made from olive oil), peppered turkey breast, a little baby lettuce mix, and the best part- A generous slice of Cambozola soft ripened cheese. So good!

I have also been very busy creating lots of new jewelry pieces. I had sorta taken a little hiatus from creating any jewelry, not intentionally, but life just kinda took over and I lost my creative mojo for awhile. It's back now baby, and now I just can't put my pliers down! I had a little problem with my camera, that I mentioned before, but I have remedied the situation so I'll be taking some pics of the stuff I've been working on. I do have a couple to share with you tonight! Hope you like!

My camera is acting up! It's not allowing me to upload pics with the cord do hickey. The camera is taking pics fine, so I think I need to go purchase another thingy that you can stick your memory card into and then stick that into the USB port. Whatever! I just know it's a total pain! I'm trying to convince my hubby to let me get a new camera, but he is firmly holding onto his No position. Maybe A little more complaining about the inadequacies of our current camera will convince him!

Anyway, I have currently been obsessesd with ruffles. I've been seeing them all over Etsy lately and I'm totally wishing I had some extra moola to buy them all!

I love my babies dearly, but I have to say it's often more than challenging to raise independent, free-thinking children, and not have their independent spirit bite you in the rear! My oldest, who is merely 4, is by far my hardest challenge. he has so much of me in him that it truly takes me by surprise sometimes! He is so sweet, very empathetic to others feelings, outgoing, and is always on the hunt for his newest "best friend". He is also exhaustive in his unending energy and usually too smart for his own good. He has taken up the habit of screaming in a very high pitched voice when he doesn't get his way (which is beyond irritating, and I'm very quickly losing all patience for it!), and his protests can turn into an emotional train wreck as fast as you can blink! he quite frankly has been acting like a spoiled little brat lately!

So what to do, what to do? I'm running out of ideas here folks. We've tried all the typical things like, time-out, taking away privileges, etc. My kid is not so typical (I know, I know I'm the momma so of course I think that about MY child!). Example, after a grueling battle of wills, I told him I was going to throw the T.V away! No more, it's gone, good-bye T.V! That should really make him tremble I thought! Well, he calmly looks me in the eye and says, "the T.V is too big to fit in the garbage can, mom."

Uh, hello dummy! Duh! I seriously I had nothing to say to that! Which is why I'm taking a different tactic now.

Our family is "adopting" a child. I don't need anymore mouths to feed, and I'm not Mrs. Jolie, so we are going to adopt by way of the Christian Children's Fund instead. Maybe the kids are too young, but i think it can't hurt to start teaching them to help others now. I want them to learn to be thankful for what they have, and realize that many other children have far less than they do.

I do know this isn't going to be a magic cure for my four year old's displays of entitlement, but I hope it will plant a seed of awareness and thankfulness.

Dec 19th- the day of my last post. Has it really been that long since my last post? I'm afraid so! I have really been focusing on my health lately, which has been long over due. I really want to make an effort to blog more often though. It's hard, what with life getting in the way and all, but I'd like to try.

I have changes in the works for the look of my blog. New year, New Forward thinking President- I think that calls for a blog change too! I'll keep you all posted on that, and I'm even thinking a giveaway may be in order to celebrate the new changes!

Family Keepsake Ornament Tutorial

Well, It's been a month since my last post! I can't believe how time flies! I've been busy working on many projects, mostly making Christmas presents. I thought I'd share a quick and easy project I did for my kids teachers and the grandparents. This is a thrifty way to make an adorable gift, that is meaningful and special. The total price for each ornament I made was $2.50! This number will of course be different depending on what embellishments you decide to use. Try limiting yourself to what you already have on hand!

First, you'll need a few things to get started:

Some type of glue that dries clear
Clear glass ornaments- the size needed will depend on the size of your photo
A photo of your choice, I chose one of my children
Loose fake snow, Mica or glitter- I used the Sparkle Christmas Snow from the Bethany Lowe Designs Collection- it looks like Mica but is a lot less expensive!
Scissors
A small paint brush
A funnel or paper cone- I actually used a large icing tip! It worked perfectly!
Tweezers

OK, so our first step is to cut out the subjects of our pictures.

When you are done your image should look like the picture below.

Grab your glue, a paintbrush and your clear glass ornament. Take the top off your ornament. The technique that worked best for me was to paint some glue on the bottom of the inside of the glass ornament. make sure you apply generously so that your picture will stick.

Next up, we are going to take our cut-out picture and gently roll it up to fit inside our ornament. Gently squeeze it into the opening at the top of the ornament, being careful not to bend the picture.Once the picture is inside it will naturally unroll a little. You will need to use your tweezers to gently coax it straight, upright and in the position you desire.

Once you have it where you want it, you can set it aside to wait for it to dry. BUT, if you are like me and have no patience for such things, you can go ahead to the next step! CAUTION!! If you decide to go on the the next step before the glue dries, you may have to do some repositioning of your photo!

Now we will grab our funnel, paper cone or large icing tip. Stick it into the top of the ornament and slowly add your mica, snow or glitter. I used a spoon to scoop it into the icing tip. Fill until you have the desired amount. You can also add other things to the snow, like tiny charms and faux berries and greenery.

Lastly, we will decorate the top of our ornament. Choose whatever you'd like to make your ornament festive. Here are some examples of what I used:

Now your Ornament is finished! Give them to teachers, grandparents, and other loved ones!

I've been super busy trying to help get all this together and haven't spent much time on my garage/studio space conversion. I am dying to get it done, but there just aren't enough hours in the day for all that needs to get accomplished! If only I could wave a magic wand and the laundry, dishes and diaper changes were done for me! If any of you are stay-at-home moms, you'll agree when I say, it's not the taking care of the kids part that's hard, it's doing everything else that's hard!

I'm so sorry to have been neglecting my blog duties lately. I'm tired, very tired! I have had a very busy couple of weeks! TWO of my sweet babies have broken limbs! Yes I said TWO! My middle child broke his OTHER leg (he broke the other leg awhile back ), and 3 days later my sweet baby girl broke her arm! Let me tell ya, it's been wild around here! Now that I'm over my fear of CPS knocking on my door (I mean come on two children in three days! I was scared!), we are all getting along just fine. My son doesn't seem to even realize he has a cast on! The child is still a whirlwind! My baby girl has been a real trooper too! She actually gets her cast off next week, and we all can't wait! I think I'll wrap her in bubble wrap after, just to be extra careful!

I've also been working on some exciting stuff! It's not finalized yet so I'm gonna stay quiet until then. I will tell you it involves this talented lady. I'll keep you updated!

I owe some of you some goodies which I haven't forgotten. I'll be getting those in the mail this week!

Where have I been you may be wondering? Well I wish I had a really legitimate excuse for being late to draw a winner for the Sweet Spaces Giveaway, but really I have just been so busy around the house, and getting my sweet space organized. Since I have been tardy, and there weren't too many spaces to put in the hat, I've decided to send everyone who participated a little surprise gift!! I have a few more Sweet Spaces to share with you. I have been such a lazy bum when it comes to blogging lately, so I apologize for not posting these sooner!

She uses nontraditional things such as vintage Pyrex bowels (That's her lovely pic at the top of this post!) to store her craft supplies, and everything she loves is accessible and easy to see in the way she has put together this cute space! Thanks for sharing!

And lastly we have Helena from Craft and Creativity. Helena has the most amazing studio space, and creates the most adorable softies! Unfortunately I don't know how to convert pic, file types, and my computer was unable to decode her gif files! Please, please take a look at her space here! It's absolutely gorgeous, I promise you won't be disappointed!

Hi everyone! I have been out of the Internet loop lately due to a Internet service outage in my area! 7 whole days of no Internet!! I was truly going bonkers! Once the outage was fixed, my box decided it was going on strike, so I had to wait several more days to have a tech. come out and replace my box! Now I'm up and running again! I have several more Sweet Spaces to show you all and I'll start with these two sweet gals:

First up is The Lovely Cindy from Wrens Nest Cottage
Cindy has a gorgeous craft space that would make any crafty girl GREEN with envy! Her style is so country chic! Beautiful neutral colors, and ingenious storage make her room to die for! She makes her own paper, and has a penchant for plain brown boxes! Don't you just love her ribbon storage shown at the top of this post?! I'll be scouring the flea market to copy that idea! Lovely Cindy, just lovely!

Next up is Dorte from Denmark. What a soft and romantic space she has! Dorte creates her beautiful cards and ATC's here in this inspiring space! I could just hunker down and get really creative here, couldn't you!

Ohhhh, you all are going to love this one! Cindy from Quaint Handmade has created a most delicious space for all her creative endeavors! There is so much eye candy here you just might get a stomachache, but it will be worth it!

Pale pink walls, and beautiful storage pieces (check out that vintage pink chest of drawers, WITH cut outs so her fabrics peek out playfully! OMG!), make this crafting space beautiful and useful! And can you believe how frickin' organized this gal is!! Check out her meticulously folded fabric collection! Only in my wildest dreams could I be that organized! This room has everything a girl needs! It would be hard NOT to feel creative in here!

Work, Work, Work and a Prize too!

Hello all! I'm sorry I have been away from the blog for soooo long! There has been much going on on around here! Between summer weekends away, Baby girl's FIRST b-day (I can't believe she is 1 now!) and creation of my new "studio", I've had lots to keep me busy!

We've been to Cambria, a gorgeous little seaside town, Santa Cruz, and several trips to the bay area, and the summer has just started! I so wanted to share some beautiful pics of Cambria with you all, but can you believe I forgot the camera at home!!

Now for the fun news! When we found out I was pregnant with my daughter, I had to give-up my precious office/studio space to make room for the new bundle. While I hated to lose my space, it was well worth the trade off! Itty Bitty (as my Dad calls her), has just turned 1, and the princess has made our lives so much more meaningful! We love her to bits!

It has been beyond fun to decorate her room, making it as girly as possible! But alas, my creativity has been a little stifled since becoming a "homeless" crafter! I have tried many options to get the juices flowing again. OK, they never really stopped, but the follow through of actually creating and finishing projects has majorly suffered! I tried toting everything out to the big kitchen table (which drove the man of the house nuts!), but not being able to see everything all at once drove me crazy. I felt I couldn't create to my fullest potential! And I had to clean up everything when I was finished, since I have small children, and wire, small objects, and toxic glue generally don't mix with small kids! I'm a very messy artist, just ask my husband!

Next I tried creating a little work area in my room, which mind you now houses the "office", since child # 3 took that space! I don't have to explain why that didn't work any better do I! So here I am with crafting roots. What I am to do? I need space! I need storage! I need sanctuary from little prying fingers! Where could I find such a place in a small home?
"How 'bout the garage?", my husband says. "The garage! The garage! The place where spiders and dust like to party?!" , I say. NO way, NO way, NO way!

But what other options did I have? So the garage it is! First step, cleaning out all the junk that has taken over (and I don't mean the pretty, I can find a use for this, type of junk we like!). After a week of cleaning, giving away, donating, and selling off junk, the place seems a little more manageable! I'm still completely overwhelmed with the amount left to do, to make the garage feel not like a garage, and more like my studio! Every time I feel I make a dent, I take a look around and feel completely overwhelmed again! I still have to paint, organize, paint and organize some more! I do think the final outcome will be pretty nice for a garage studio though! I'll keep you all updated as things come slowly along.

Since I'm still in the early stages of putting my studio together, I'd love to see all of your creative work places! I've decided to create a little contest out of it! Send me pics of your inspiring creative work places. I'll post all pics on the blog, and my favorite space will receive the vintage collage necklace pictured at the top of this post, made by yours truly! I'm back from my wonderful trip to Washington and The Farm Chicks Antique Show. It was so much fun, and way to short a trip! We arrived Fri. evening to cold and rainy weather. Such a bummer, since it was warm and sunny here in Sacramento County. The awful weather did nothing to deter the masses from flooding the Farm Chicks show! I knew it was going to be big, But I had no idea the turnout would be that huge! Seriously, there must have been at least 500 junk lovers lined up in the rain to get into the event Sat. morning! The anticipation was almost too much to handle! The first day was so jam packed with people, it was nearly impossible to see any of the wonderful items put out by vendors! The second day was much more calm, and you could actually see the gorgeous booths, and the spectacular displays and vignettes. Every booth was a sight to see! The vendors did not disappoint and went above and beyond to make their booths inviting, and hard to resist! The Farm Chicks booth was so fun! They had vintage enamel ware from India, handmade jewelry, tee-shirts, hats, posters and other goodies. They sold out of the enamel ware almost immediately! These ladies were going crazy over it! It was a feeding frenzy!

I had a blast! Next year's show will be bigger and better! I know I can't wait for it! Shhh Don't Tell!

One of my best friends' little girl is turning 1! She is a gorgeous spunky brunette, and the princess of her home! What better gift for a princess, than a fabulous Tutu! I completed it tonight, and even though it is windy as all heck today, I had to get some shots of it before I wrap it up! So don't mind the less than fabulous backdrop! It was the only place that was sheltered by the wind! Happy B-day Little A!

To Eat or Not to Eat, That is the Question?

So many people have asked me to post a pic. of myself on the blog. I'm not sure why , I'm really quite boring looking. I kinda have that needs to brush her hair, goop from the kids on clothes, shops at Target, kinda look. Really nothing to look at, and nothing to aspire to! While contemplating taking a pic. for the blog (which I don't really do ever. It's actually kind sad, cause' I don't have many pics. of me and the kids together.), I decide, enough is enough! I am getting serious here folks! Momma need a little (OK, maybe a lot!) of shaping up and toning up! Now some damage (did I say damage? Oh I meant lovely little marks of love from the birth of my 3 children), is not repairable, but other things can be helped with a little effort on my part. That's the part that is really hard for me though!

I'm not afraid to admit it (well maybe just a little) that I am a huge fan of the MTV show The Hills
Yes, I know I'm 30, and not rich, but I love taking a glimpse into the lives of these pre-pubescent, designer clad girlie's! I long to live their lives, have the kinda drama that doesn't even seem real, wear fancy clothes without snot or sticky fingerprints, and most all be stick skinny!! I have not always been a size that has caused me to hide behind the camera. Actually I think I was quite the looker back in my heyday! Three children in 3 years kinda takes a tole on the body! So anyway, I decided the time is now! No more loss of will power, no more excuses! I will take a pic. for the blog! I will utilizing the help of Shape magazine's January addition (which happens to have my BFF Lauren Conrad from The Hills on the Cover! It must be fate!), which has a program to drop 10 lbs in 1 month!

Wish me luck! When it's all over I'll take a pic. for the blog! I promise! For now here is one I do feel comfortable sharing with you! If anyone wants to join me in fighting the battle of the bulge, let me know!

Farm Chicks Antique Show, Here We Come!

It's official! The flight is booked, the hotel reserved, the rental car accounted for! I'll be heading off to Washington for the Farm Chicks Antique Show in Spokane, June 7-8th!

I'm going with my Junk Loving Buddy, my Mother-in-law! It's gonna be a blast, I can't wait! I know... Your probably thinking, "Dude, I know it's a cool show and all, but come on lady! Get a life!"
Well guess what I don't have one, and getting to go anywhere without children for 3 nights and 4 days is nearly impossible around here! So just warning you, you might here me mention the Farm Chicks show MANY times before I leave! Oh and check out their site. Many cool collecting, craft, and recipe ideas, plus a look at some Pics of last years show. Did I mention I was going to the show this year? June 7th-8th? In Washington? No kids with me? Oh, I did! Yippee for me!!

Happy Mother's day everyone! I hope you are all having swell days! I was to have a glorious weekend alone, the kids going off with their father to Santa Cruz, but alas that was not the case! My oldest has been sick since Fri. so the trip has been postponed. The weekend was still wonderful with a trip to my local Antique Fair.
This fair is held every second Sun. of the month, with tons of gorgeous vendors and yummy things to buy! I try to go as often as I can, but with three young children and a husband that often works on the weekend, it's not always possible! Today I was allowed the luxury of going for several hours, all by myself! It was heaven! I found lots of wonderful things, and some will be available in my supply/vintage shop.

Sweet Goodness Swap & Baby Shower

Hello! I am in a mad dash to get this post up! I just got home from a baby shower I put on for a Friend today. I am pooped, but it all went so well! All 3 kids are actually sleeping, so I'm trying to take advantage of this time and post a little!

We did the shower at my work, My Girlfriend's Kitchen
which is a meal assembly kitchen. Basically everyone pre-assembled meals for the mother-to-be, so that she could take them home and freeze them to use once the baby comes in just a few weeks! It is going to be my friend's 2nd baby, so we thought this would make a great gift. If you all have children you know how hard it is to get anything done, especially cooking!So here's some pics of how we set up:

The little cupcake favors are actually soaps, made by the lovely Charlene of White Lye Soap Co.
I put them in little clear bags with some yummy salt water taffy! They looked so cute all together on a platter!

OK, My kids have now woken up so forgive me while I scramble to finish this post!

I have been meaning to post all the lovely things my Fab Partner Amy of Flamingo and Flip Flops
sent to me several days back for the Sweet Goodness Springtime in Paris swap. Everything was so lovely! She made me and my daughter the sweetest flip flops, her specialty, and the most wonderful cards with pictures of Paris! The pictures on the cards were actually taken by her friend while in Paris! Isn't that fun? The little pink box held lots of yummy candies that have already been consumed by the kids (and by kids I mean me! hee, hee!). She also sent some cute little monkey ornaments that the kids were able to color on and make their own little works of art! So here's a look at all the goodies she sent! Thanks so much Amy! Sweet Goodness Swap

Ok, My swap partner Amy received her goodies I sent her for the Sweet Goodness Springtime in Paris Swap, so now I can show you all what I sent her!

It was Amy's first swap so I tried to make it special for her! I sent her two necklaces I made using vintage chandelier crystals, and other vintage goodies! One is a very bold piece that hung from gorgeous, double sided satin ribbon in black and white. The Theme for the swap was french and blue, white and black, in case you couldn't tell!

I painted the vintage chandelier crystal with glass paint, and put a little gold foil around the edges.

This is the ribbon that secures the necklace.

I also made this journal for Amy. It was my first time making something like this with paper, and while I had fun doing it I think I'll leave this craft for people who are really amazing at it like Alisa, at Life is a Beautiful Place to Be.

Here is the other necklace I made Amy. This one is more "everyday". A thick antiqued brass chain, and a vintage chandelier crystal that was collaged with some vintage french text, and a little more gold leaf!

I didn't take pics of all the other little goodies I sent so I swiped some from Amy! She took some great pics of everything, even the little not I wrote her in French!

I had so much fun putting this all together! Thanks Amy for being such a Fabulous Swap partner! I'll add pics of goodies when they arrive!

I also wanted to share what I made for the Enchanted Swap. I already shared what I received from my lovely Partner Heather
Now it's my turn!

I dubbed her the Cupcake princess since I knew how fond of the sweet treat she was! Her is the tiara I made her, as well as a royal cupcake scepter!

This a a cute necklace I also made for Heather.

Vintage beads in yummy candy shades, and of course a vintage collaged chandelier crystal. This was has a sweet little blue bird, some vintage text and some pretty flowers.

It makes me so happy to share what I make with people who really enjoy the items! Thank You Heather and Amy for making these swaps so much fun!

I have been extremely busy lately with orders to fulfill, and two Swaps that I have been participating in! I finally got all my swap goodies done, packaged and sent out! Ahhh, I feel a weight is lifted, and now I can share with you the goodies I have received!

Ok so the sweet Heather sent some fabulous goodies to me! An adorable notebook she embellished just for me, with my name in sparkly letters! A bracelet that spelled out my name and has a little crown and the word "wish". A princess wand, because what princess could be with out one? A lastly, the best of all, the most beautiful necklace made of multi-colored buttons, the tiniest stars, and a soldered bubble charm that says create! Seriously it is lovely!! So I got the most fabulous surprise delivered yesterday! I don't know about you all, but I just love to get packages! The anticipation of opening the box, pulling out all the protective packaging, it's just so thrilling! Especially when it is a surprise package!

So back to yesterday...

I was cleaning up the bathroom when the doorbell rang. Low and behold it was the UPS man! What a lovely way to get out of cleaning the bathroom! So here was this big box from Rachel, my lovely Easter Swap partner! She found out it was my birthday and sent me a lovely box of goodies! Inside were some fabulous goodies! Here take a look:

Some vintage wallpaper, a pink vintage Gerber baby cup, and pink baby shoe, an adorable cream ceramic dish shaped liked two hands and cute vintage chandelier crystal and French coin hanging from a blue ribbon!

This was the way the little dish came packaged with the chandelier charm inside this cute little box!

So I have told Rachel she needs to open her own little shop on Etsy! Don't you agree? She makes all kinds of beautiful things but we can't see them on a regular basis! Please Rachel do us all a favor, and open an Etsy shop!!! Pretty Please? But really, Thank you so much for the very thoughtful, and sweet B-day surprise! You made my day!!

Today is my hubby's B-day! It's a biggie too! The big 3-0! We had a fabulous celebration with enormous cupcakes, Elmo party hats, and ice cream! let me tell ya, it was a celebration! The kids got a kick out of seeing daddy in his party hat (left over from the middle ones' birthday)!

I know this may seem like a sad way to leave your 20's behind, but don't worry! My Birthday is only six days away, also the big 3-0, so we are spending the weekend in San Francisco to celebrate both! The grandparents are babysitting which is heaven for both parties!

So happy Birthday, my friend, my soul mate, my partner in crime! I love you more than you'll ever know!

So I have exciting news! Well it is for me anyway! I have been granted a table space in the coveted Poppy Talk Handmade Market! For those of you who don't know of Poppy Talk Handmade
you really should check out their blog. It is a fabulous place full of handmade goodness! Fabulous artists/crafters and events are featured, and amazing Etsy artists are often given applause. Their Handmade market is like an online arts and crafts show, and space is limited, so it's totally awesome that I was chosen to be a part! The new show starts April 14th, which coincidentally is my birthday (the big 3-0! OMG!!), so it will be an all around fab day! I hope you'll all check it out!

In other news, I am participating in a great swap put on by Sarah of Gypsy Mermaid .

The swap is called Enchanted, and was inspired by the new Disney Movie of the same name. I have some fun ideas up my sleeve for this one! Tiara just might be one of them! You'll have to check back to see!

I have some new items to add to my shop, but I'll post those later tonight!

I am trying to put together a business card/promo Swap. My goal is to get 20-25 people involved who will send their business cards or other small promo items (such as coupons, buttons, magnenets,etc) to every other person on the list. Once all the cards are collected from each person on the list you will compile them all into a little "godie bag" that you will ship off with items you sell from your shop, or give away at shows you participate in. This is a fabulous way to promote, promote! Very little out of pocket expense, and hopefully you will receive lots of new traffic to your shop! Because this will be done within The CSST you are promoting to the perfect target audience that loves our shabby cottage style!

Don't worry if you don't have coupons, or other promo items, Business cards are just fine! Make sure your shop name is on your cards though, so people know where to find you. It is also helpful if there is a description, or phots of your work!

Your goodie bags don't have to be elaborate. Just put everything in a cellophane bag, or use your creativity to glam it up! The decision is yours!

As if I don't have enough on my plate already! I just opened a new store dedicated to supplies, destash, and vintage goodies! You can find it here: Sweetaddie Vintage

Here is a quick peek of some of the fun things I just added to the shop last night:

These are the cutest little vintage jelly jars! I found a bunch, and just couldn't pass them up! They are perfect fro storing your little bits and bobs, buttons, beads, office equipment, you name it!

This is so adorable! A sweet Brush and comb set I would keep it for myself, but my boys would probably destroy it! It is probably from the 20's or 30's.

OK, I just have to show you this absolutely perfect, pink vintage jewelry box I just got for my baby girl! I know she isn't even walking yet, but I couldn't let this pass me by! The best part is it still works, and the original key came with it!!

The inside is pink velvet! The tiny ballerina still turns around in dance. She is missing her tutu, but she is still beautiful!

Since I'm showing you the box for my daughter, I thought, why not share some pics of her room! I had two boys before her, so when she came along I got the green light to decorate her room as girly as possible! I've had so much fun making it a special little place just for her!

This rocker has been with us since my first child, and I am so glad I went with this neutral pale green color! I think I have always secretly been hoping for a girl, and thought green would work for both! The little darker cream shelf was found for just $4. It was an ugly brown color, so I gave it a shabby chic makeover! The peg shelf holds some of my mother-in laws dresses from when she was a child. Aren't they cute? I have several of her little dresses, and the cutest pink corduroy jacket with tiny Scottie dogs embroidered on it. The little dresser is actually a changing table too! The whole thing can be flipped over, and the decorative skirt on the bottom becomes the sides of the changer! Isn't that ingenious! The drawers can even be taken out and flipped over to accommodate either way you use it!

The little doll on the shelf, was my first dolly as a child!

I saved the best for last! The balloon shade is Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic, from Target. The Glittered letters were made by the very talented Sophie Rose Designs
She made this custom for me! You have to check out her site, for the most amazing shabby & Cottage style treats!

Oh, I forgot to mention! I am now a member of the Cottage Style Street! Yeah!

Now don't let this sweet Little face fool you! Although I do have to say, he is adorable (biased, me?)!

This little cutie found a new way to mortify mommy today! Today I was informed by his pre-school teacher when picking this child up, that he had decided using the toilet to do his business was just a total waste of time! He instead pulled his little pants down and peed right out side the playhouse in the school playground!!! I could have died! The sad thing is this behavior was probably learned by the biggest kid in our family, my husband!

Well he chastised, as he should have been, and felt very bad for his behavior! The tears were very sincere, and I have a feeling this is the last time that will be happening! After realizing this was not a condoned behavior, I think he was actually embarrassed!

Aren't the boys outfits cute? Those are courtesy of my mother in law. My husband works in the Golf industry, and she just had to get the outfits when she saw them!

The Dress is dupiani silk, and was obscenely expensive originally, but I got it after Christmas for a steal, and saved it for Easter! Aren't I the smart one!

This is one of the cute Little tiaras I have been working on. I was inspired by a vintage Tiara i found at a local Antique shop (that coincidentally carries some of my designs!). I loved the idea of making some modern ones with vintage components.

OK... So I didn't post the same night I said I would! So sue me! As I said in my first post, I recently started a part time job in the eves. I love doing something that is just for me, and it get me out of the house with a purpose! I did not realize how tired I was going to be though! Well I guess I can't complain. I wanted my cake, and now I have to eat it!

So on to much better (and prettier!) topics! I recently did an Easter swap organized by the sweet Genevieve at Bella Enchanted.

This was my very first swap and I loved every minute of it! My husband thinks I'm crazy, but I love putting together beautiful things for someone I know will appreciate it! My partner was Rachel, the sweetest girl with a major love for chippy furniture, vintage fabrics and trims, and anything shabby chic! I thought we made a perfect match!

She was so on the ball. She sent my basket almost immediately! Since she has received my basket already, I though I'd share some pics with you!

Isn't all so fun! She even sent the kids some goodies! They were in heaven! The little doll she made for my daughter is so adorable! That was my favorite!

Hello, Hello!

Hello, everyone! Ok, so I have officially given in to peer pressure! I have entered the blog world to join my fellow crafters. Since I am not as computer savy as some of my commrades, you'll have to bear with me as I learn the ropes.

So Welcome everyone to a behind the scenes look at Sweet Addie!

I should probably introduce myself: My name is Kelly, and I am a Stay at Home mother to three. My daughter was the inspiration behind the name of my business, even before she was born! I also have two adorable little boys that keep me very busy and up to neck in dirty clothes and sticky hugs! I craft in the snippets of "spare time" I find here and there, and generally drive my husband crazy with the trail of beads, and wire I leave everywhere! He is extremely supportive, although he doesn't really "get it"! What man does?!

I recently got a part time job, a few evenings a week. It's nice to get out of babyland for awhile and participate in some grown-up activities! The place is called My Girlfriend's Kitchen
It's a fabulous place to make all your meals for the week or the month, take them home and freeze them, and then just thaw and cook when you need them! I tell you places like this are a life saver! There will be more about MGFK to come, but for now I'd like to show you some items in my Etsy Shop:
